It's understandable that you may feel nervous before your first lesson, but try to remember that you will be in a class with other beginners & they will probably be feeling the exact same way as you! Here is a bit information to put your mind at rest and to answer some of the common questions people ask before their first pole dance lesson. 1. Am I too old, too unfit, too fat? We recommend Pole lessons for students over 16 years old. There is definitely no upper age limit! Pole fitness is enjoyed by ladies of all shapes and sizes. Exercises can be adapted to suit everyone; although the tricks look hard, behind every pole move there is technique which we will teach you, by the end of a course students are surprised at the tricks they can do! :) 2. I'm not sure if I want to come to a class? Why not come along for a £5 taster session to have a go or come and watch a class. 3. What happens in a pole fitness class?Your pole dancing class is 1 hour long, which includes full warm up & stretching. We then go on to the pole where you will learn pole tricks, spins, climbs & transitions. We also to body strengthening & conditioning moves so that you gain the strength needed to carry out the harder tricks as you advance. We do half the lesson with the pole on static, then the other half learning tricks on the spinney pole. 4. What do I wear? You will need to wear shorts as it’s your skin that grips to the pole material will make you slip. A sports top or vest top. No jewellery as it scratches the pole & very importantly NO moisturiser, oils or lotion on your skin or you will make the pole slippery for yourself & others. 6. What happens if I need to cancel? We understand that sometimes you need to cancel or reschedule your lesson due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances. We would be grateful for as much notice as possible as we can only allow a certain amount of students per class, so we're able to let someone else have your space. Hope I've answered a few questions here :) & we hope to see you at urban aerial, Southampton soon!
